San Diego nonprofit helps grieving family during KUSI’s Breaking and Entering Christmas

SAN DIEGO (KUSI) — The Comfort Cub, a San Diego–based nonprofit dedicated to helping people cope with trauma, grief and loss, was honored to participate in KUSI’s annual Breaking and Entering Christmas event this weekend — an initiative that brings hope and holiday joy to local families facing overwhelming hardship.

This year, the San Diego community rallied around a grieving family who lost their father, Joe, in August after a battle with brain cancer. Joe was the sole provider for his family and often worked two to three jobs to support his wife and their two children — a 4-year-old son and a 12-year-old daughter. Following his passing, the family faced not only profound emotional loss, but the possibility of not being able to afford Christmas this year.

As part of the event, The Comfort Cub donated its weighted, therapeutic teddy bears to each member of the family, offering comfort during an incredibly painful season…
