SAN DIEGO — A woman has filed a lawsuit against the City of San Diego and the Port District after suffering a broken pelvis when she tripped on a raised handhole cover near Navy Pier during what was supposed to be a leisurely walk to a restaurant with her family.
Jorja Austin says “My right foot hit something,” when she tripped and hit the ground hard. “My husband tried to get me up and felt – no – I knew something was broke. I just knew,” said Austin.
Austin spent four days in the hospital recovering from her injuries. After returning home, she asked her husband to check if the dangerous cover had been repaired. “And he went down there and he said nothing has happened… it’s still like it was,” she said…
