San Diego County Sheriff’s Office rolls out new ballistic vests for K-9s after previous injuries

SAN DIEGO, Calif. (FOX5/KUSI) – The San Diego County Sheriff’s Office is rolling out new ballistic vests for its K-9 unit, aiming to better protect police dogs who routinely face dangerous and unpredictable situations while on duty.

All patrol canines across the county will soon be equipped with the upgraded vests, which are designed to provide protection during high-risk calls, including suspect searches, building sweeps and patrol responses alongside deputies.
