Macy’s is facing a slew of closures across several states, which includes shuttering its last location in a major city.
The chain announced last week it would be closing 14 stores in the latest round of closures. It has closed several stores in 2025, and now it’s starting 2026 with even more in states like Texas, California, New Jersey and more. The closures are a part of a strategy to shutter underperforming locations and reinvest in others to support long-term growth, CEO Tony Spring said in a memo.
A notice on the chain’s website revealed that the store in West Valley Mall in Tracy, California, is one of the doomed locations. Although the exact closure date has not been confirmed, customers are encouraged to visit other nearby stores or shop online.
