Armed Robbery Arrest – San Marcos

On Saturday, January 17, just after 10:14 p.m., the Sheriff’s Office Communication Center received a 911 call that an armed robbery that had just occurred at the Quesadilla Taco Stand near the intersection of South Santa Fe Avenue and Smilax Road. Deputies quickly responded to the area, but the suspects fled in a vehicle before their arrival. Fortunately, nobody was injured during the robbery. While investigating the crime, deputies were able to obtain license plate information for the suspect vehicle. This information was broadcast to other law enforcement agencies throughout the county.

At 11:35 p.m., officers from the Chula Vista Police Department spotted the vehicle and attempted to conduct a traffic enforcement stop. The driver failed to yield and fled from the officers. A vehicle pursuit ensued which went throughout much of the county and lasted for approximately forty-seven minutes. The driver eventually led the pursuit back to the city of San Marcos. The vehicle finally yielded in the 300 block of Richmar Avenue in the city of San Marcos. A high risk vehicle stop was conducted and two males were taken into custody.

The driver, Serafin Delgado (DOB 12-22-91) was charged with felony evasion, armed robbery, assault with a deadly weapon and conspiracy. The passenger, Isaac Sarmiento (DOB 1-13-04) was charged with armed robbery and conspiracy. Both males were later booked into the Vista Detention Facility…
