San Diego Mayor Todd Gloria tells KOGO News paid parking at Balboa Park is staying.
This comes despite new opposition from businesses and visitors to the park. A defiant Mayor Gloria tells KOGO’s Conway and Larson cuts had to be made to the city budget, and revenue streams invented, like paying to park.
“You know every other mayor that you’ve ever met came in here and told you we’re broke, the city has a deficit, and we can’t fix it. I’m the one guy in this town who is telling you the God’s honest truth. You can have council members who vote to impose this and then turn around and say now I’m now against it, I’m not that guy.”
The Mayor says he’s willing to look at data from Balboa Park, but also noted, it’s only been three weeks and museum curators and the public need to be patient…
