After more than 20 years in business, the Oggi’s Sports Brewhouse Pizza location at within Liberty Station in San Diego’s Point Loma has closed.
The Liberty Station outpost had been part of the former Naval Training Center redevelopment and served as a neighborhood sports bar and family-friendly pizza restaurant for much of the site’s modern commercial life. No public announcement detailing the reason for the closure has been issued, and the company has not indicated whether the space will be reoccupied by another Oggi’s concept.
Oggi’s traces its roots back to 1991, when it originally opened as Stuft Pizza in Carmel Valley. Founded by George Hadjis and his brother John, the family-run business evolved during the 1990s into one of San Diego’s early brewpub pioneers, installing small-scale breweries inside its restaurants and later rebranding as Oggi’s, the Italian word for “today.” The concept became known for combining pizza, craft beer, and a sports-focused atmosphere at a time when the city’s brewing scene was still in its infancy…
