There was an overnight break-in at The Friendly’s original San Diego location that resulted in eight officers arriving ready for action.

An early-morning police response on Monday briefly turned heads in San Diego’s North Park after officers were dispatched to The Friendly’s original 30th Street location following a report of a break-in with someone believed to still be inside. A video circulating online showed at least eight officers on scene, including one with a shotgun drawn, as they carefully entered through the restaurant’s shattered front door.

As it turns out, the dramatic response was fueled by an abundance of caution rather than an active threat. Authorities were initially told a person might still be on the premises, prompting a full sweep of the building. That report ultimately proved unfounded, and officers quickly confirmed the restaurant was empty…
