LEMON GROVE, Calif. (FOX 5/KUSI) — The San Diego County Sheriff’s Office is investigating an attempted robbery in Lemon Grove from Monday morning when a man reportedly tried to steal an 11-year-old’s backpack.
According to the report, at around 8 a.m., near Golden Avenue, a man identified by detectives as Damari Waller, 30, reportedly approached an 11-year-old Lemon Grove Academy student walking to school.
Waller allegedly demanded the student’s backpack and chased them to the school, according to authorities. He then left the scene before deputies arrived.
Detectives said Waller is known to be a transient in East County. He is currently wanted on suspicion of attempted robbery, according to authorities. Deputies from the Lemon Grove Sheriff’s Substation are conducting extra patrols in the area in an effort to find Waller…
