‘Rabbit-sized’ rats infest restaurants, shops in downtown Tijuana, merchant says

SAN DIEGO (Border Report) — Merchants are asking the City of Tijuana to do something about the proliferation of rats that are infiltrating businesses and restaurants in the downtown area.

Guillermo Díaz Orozco, president of the Downtown Merchants Association, told the El Sol Newspaper in Tijuana, that their businesses, especially restaurants, are exposed to and have become vulnerable to rats.

“If they don’t take out unsold food items that same night, rats pounce on that stuff and it turns into a breeding ground,” Díaz Orozco said. “We’re not talking about small rats, but some that are as big as rabbits, huge rats.”
