As Kaiser workers are on strike for a second week, some patients have come forward warning about the lack of care they believe they received during the strike.
“My daughter is in a unique situation,” Stephanie McGuffie said about her 26-year-old daughter Makayla, who has cerebral palsy. “She can’t take a drink by herself, can’t take her meds by herself, can’t go to the bathroom by herself, so I mean her needs are significant.”
Stephanie has been by her daughter’s side since she was admitted to the hospital at the end of October, and has been through an emergency surgery, sepsis, c-diff, and has relied on a ventilator for 11 days of her 3-month hospital stay…
