The Imperial Beach Fishing Pier at the base of Evergreen Avenue was constructed in 1963, and reconstructed in 1989. But, the history of the I.B. Pier began in 1909.
The first pier was constructed long before city-hood. I.B. was part of the region known as South San Diego in the early 1900s. South Bay Company planned to develop the land tract known as Imperial Beach. The Company decided that a fishing pier would be a major attraction for the area…
