CHULA VISTA, Calif. — Chula Vista Police Chief Roxana Kennedy is accusing city leaders of colluding to oust her in favor of a new Latino male police chief, according to documents obtained by CBS 8. The city said these claims “entirely unfounded and deeply offensive by its very nature.”
Chief Kennedy also says they’re using an incident at a Police Officers Association holiday party on Dec. 16 to end her career.
Fearing the city is looking to find a reason to force her into an early retirement, Chief Kennedy has hired an attorney to make sure that doesn’t happen. On Feb. 6, attorney Cory Briggs issued a preservation letter as a warning not to delete any evidence that might show some councilmembers and high-ranking city staff are looking to push Chief Kennedy out.
