Advisory issued for Carlsbad State Beach due to high bacteria levels

SAN DIEGO (FOX 5/KUSI) — The County of San Diego added a handful of additional beaches to its Bacterial Exceedance Advisory list on Tuesday afternoon, including a portion of Carlsbad State Beach.

The Batiquitos Lagoon Outlet at Carlsbad State Beach was added to the county’s advisory list around 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, along with the San Luis Rey River Outlet and Oceanside Batiquitos Lagoon Outlet.

The advisory takes effect immediately and is issued when results from sampled bay or ocean water exceed state health standards due to high bacteria levels. There is currently no timetable as to when the advisory will be lifted.
