County Supervisor calls on California’s next governor to address TJ River sewage crisis

IMPERIAL BEACH, Calif. (FOX 5/KUSI) — As the crowded race for California governor ramps up, San Diego County Supervisor Paloma Aguirre is urging candidates to prioritize the Tijuana River sewage crisis.

Tijuana River pollution has led to increased odor, health and environmental concerns for the South Bay community. These residents have been living with these conditions for years, and Aguirre is hoping California’s next governor will do something to change that.

“Supervisor Aguirre recently invited candidates for Governor of California to visit South San Diego and witness firsthand the nation’s worst public health and environmental disaster,” the Office of Supervisor Aguirre shared in a statement.
