A man was stabbed to death in downtown San Diego and a suspect was arrested while attempting to start a fire in his nearby apartment, police said Sunday.
The San Diego Police Department responded at 9:23 p.m. Saturday to a report of a stabbing in front of the Hotel Churchill in the 800 block of C Street, where officers found an unidentified man in his 40s on the sidewalk with multiple stab wounds, Homicide Lt. Lou Maggi said. The man died at the scene despite efforts by officers and medics.
“While tending to the victim, officers were directed to the suspect, who had retreated into his nearby apartment and attempted to start a fire inside. Officers forced their way into the room and took 34-year-old Grant Parker into custody with the use of a police K9,” Maggi said. “Parker was transported to a nearby hospital for treatment. Once medically cleared, he will be booked into county jail for murder.”…
