(FOX 5/KUSI) — As the world watches the 2026 Winter Olympics unfold in Italy, Southern California is already preparing for its turn to host the next Olympic games.
San Diego’s Lower Trestles, widely known as one of the world’s most legendary surf breaks, will stage the surfing competition at the LA28 Olympics. This decision was announced by LA28 in April.
On Friday, the International Surfing Association (ISA) released the approved Qualification System for Olympic Surfing by the International Olympic Committee (IOC), and changes to the qualification process are drawing backlash from well-known members of the surf community.
