New exhibit at Birch Aquarium spotlights endangered frog

SAN DIEGO (FOX 5/KUSI) — A new immersive exhibit highlighting one of California’s most endangered amphibians is hopping into Birch Aquarium at Scripps Institution of Oceanography next month.

Aquarium officials announced on Thursday that the exhibit — “Imagine Wild: Mountain Yellow-legged Frog’ — will open on March 20, 2026.

The exhibit will transport visitors through a fictional landscape of forests, meadows and alpine lakes that mirror the frog’s natural habitat. Through interactive displays, guests will explore the species’ story of resilience, the environmental threats it faces and the scientific work aimed at giving the frog a second chance at survival…
