San Diego committee to revisit vacancy tax proposal introduced by council member

SAN DIEGO (FOX 5/KUSI) — A proposed tax on vacant homes in San Diego will be back on the table this week as the City of San Diego’s rules committee decides whether to include it on the June ballot.

On Wednesday, the committee will revisit the proposal introduced by Councilmember Sean Elo-Rivera, who says the so-called “Empty Homes” tax would only apply to owners’ second homes that sit empty.

Previously, it included a tax on short-term rentals, but that has since been revised, according to Elo-Rivera’s office…
