SAN DIEGO, Calif. (FOX 5/KUSI) — County leaders and Father Joe’s Villages teamed up to open up more than 40 critical detox beds for San Diegans experiencing homelessness.
The 44 detox beds, which became officially operational on Monday, are meant to provide a place and resource for people experiencing homelessness who want to detox from narcotics.
“This is an opportunity to really get to the foundational issues that people have been having,” President and CEO of Father Joe’s Villages Deacon Jim Vargas told KUSI on Monday. “They may cycle in and out of shelter beds, but if they have substance use challanges and that’s not being addressed then they don’t really get any better.”…
