Beach hazard warning for Orange County coast

The National Weather Service has issued a Beach Hazard Statement for Orange County Coastal and San Diego County Coastal areas. Long period south-southwesterly swells of 17-19 seconds are creating elevated surf conditions with waves of 2-4 feet this afternoon into Tuesday, and breaking waves of 4-6 feet with sets up to 7 feet possible on south-facing beaches.

The statement remains in effect through Wednesday evening. These conditions bring a high risk of rip currents and dangerous swimming conditions. Swimmers are advised to stay out of the water and always remain near a lifeguard if entering the ocean…
