Pedestrian struck by vehicle on San Diego highway, prompting morning closures

SAN DIEGO — A stretch of highway temporarily shut down Friday when a vehicle struck a man who was standing in the middle of the roadway near San Diego’s Old Town neighborhood.

Officers responded around 5:20 a.m. Friday to reports of a traffic incident in the 4600 block of Pacific Highway, according to the San Diego Police Department.

Police said the pedestrian was taken to a hospital in unknown condition, although he was reportedly unconscious with multiple injuries at the time. His name and age were not immediately available…
