🚨 DUI Checkpoint Planned in Poway on March 27

The Poway Sheriff’s Station will run a DUI and driver’s license checkpoint on Friday, March 27, from 8:00 p.m. to 2:00 a.m. at an undisclosed location in Poway. Deputies will check for signs of alcohol or drug impairment and verify driver licenses.

The Sheriff’s Office reminds everyone that “DUI doesn’t just mean booze.” Prescription drugs and marijuana can also impair driving. To stay safe:

  • Always use a sober driver, ride-share, taxi, or public transit.
  • Report drunk drivers by calling 9-1-1.
  • If you’re hosting, offer nonalcoholic drinks and help guests get home safely.

A DUI arrest can cost over $13,500 in fines, fees, and other expenses. Funding for this checkpoint comes from the California Office of Traffic Safety through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration
