Today is opening day for the Padres and fans will be in for sticker shock with Special Event Parking rates.
The city will implement 10-dollar an hour rates starting two hours before and two hours after the Padres game. The rates will be in use for a half mile radius from State and 17th street and Broadway and Harbor Drive.
“That’s not the way to reduce that deficit; it’s the city’s job to encourage people to come downtown, not to dissuade them from coming downtown,” Howard Greenberg, a San Diego resident, told reporting partner 10 News.
