San Diego police warn of organized teen ‘fight club’ at La Jolla beach

LA JOLLA, Calif. (FOX 5/KUSI) — San Diego police are raising concerns about dangerous meetups involving teens and young adults at a popular La Jolla beach, where fights are being organized through social media and drawing large crowds.

According to the San Diego Police Department, groups of teens, some as young as middle school age, have been coordinating gatherings online, sometimes referring to them as “fight club,” before showing up at Marine Street Beach.

Police say what may begin as a typical beach hangout can quickly escalate. Video obtained by FOX 5/KUSI shows crowds surrounding fights on the sand, with people cheering, recording and, in some cases, escalating the violence…
