Florida woman and California man sentenced for murder in drug trafficking case

MIAMI, Florida — A Florida woman and a California man have been sentenced to lengthy prison terms for the 2022 murder of a Miami man linked to a drug trafficking conspiracy.

Tsvia Kol, a 37-year-old from Hallandale, Florida, and Jimmy Sanchez, a 38-year-old from Spring Valley, California, received sentences of 230 months and 330 months, respectively, after pleading guilty to using a firearm to cause death and conspiring to distribute at least 500 grams of methamphetamine, according to court documents. The pair believed the victim had stolen a package containing approximately 11 pounds of methamphetamine, valued at $90,000, which had actually been seized by law enforcement.

The duo confronted the victim in a rented hotel room, where Kol provided Sanchez with a firearm. During the encounter, the victim called 911, and the call recorded sounds of a physical altercation and gunshots.
