San Diego man sentenced to 10 years for armed carjacking and ammunition possession

SAN DIEGO, California — Manuel Joseph Rose III, a 40-year-old from San Diego, was sentenced to 10 years in federal prison for armed carjacking and unlawful possession of ammunition as a convicted felon.

Rose was found guilty in two separate jury trials in October. The first jury convicted him of carjacking and brandishing a firearm during a violent crime. The following week, a different jury found him guilty of possessing thousands of rounds of ammunition while being a convicted felon, according to a press release from the U.S. Attorney’s Office.

“An armed carjacking is more than a theft — it is a violent crime that leaves lasting trauma for victims,” said U.S. Attorney Adam Gordon. “This sentence reflects the serious danger posed when a convicted felon arms himself and threatens innocent people.”…
