By afternoon, west winds will start to flex, with gusts near 20 mph in more exposed areas.

The more potent part of the system arrives tonight, bringing the best chance for showers and a small risk of thunderstorms tomorrow. Coastal and inland areas could pick up a few tenths of an inch of rain, while foothills and mountains may see up to around a half inch or more, with coastal-facing slopes locally higher, according to NWS San Diego.
