SDPD, CHP conduct joint DUI checkpoint in Pacific Beach: Here are the results

SAN DIEGO (FOX 5/KUSI) — The San Diego Police Department (SDPD) and the California Highway Patrol (CHP) released the results from the DUI/Driver License checkpoint conducted jointly by the two agencies last Friday in Pacific Beach.

According to a press release from SDPD, the checkpoint was conducted on April 24, from 10 p.m. to 2 p.m. near Mission Bay Drive. A total of 2,269 vehicles traveled through Friday night’s checkpoint.

Here are the results yielded from the checkpoint:

  • 721 Vehicles screened
  • 13 Drivers evaluated
  • 5 DUI-Alcohol suspects arrested
  • 2 DUI-Drug impaired drivers arrested
  • 0 Suspect arrested for illegal drugs (possession/transportation/sales)
  • 0 Arrested on other Criminal Charges
  • 0 Driver cited/arrested for operating a vehicle unlicensed or while suspended/revoked
  • 0 Citations issued
  • 7 Vehicle impounds conducted

Seven people were arrested on suspicion of DUI during the checkpoint operation. According to law enforcement, checkpoints are placed in locations that have the greatest opportunity for drunk and drugged driving deterrence and provide the greatest safety for officers and the public.
