Mom and daughter earn new degrees, graduate from SDSU at the same time

SAN DIEGO — Three generations of the Sciuto Ruiz family made San Diego State University history Thursday as mother and daughter earned degrees together during the largest graduation ceremony in the university’s history.

Marceline Sciuto proudly walked across the stage to receive her doctorate in educational leadership, 41 years after earning her undergraduate degree from SDSU in 1985. She also earned her master’s degree from the university in 1994, making her a triple alumna. On the same day, her daughter Micaela Ruiz earned her MBA in business administration.
