(KRON) — Oakland’s Jack London Square is set to lose another business. Plank, the bar restaurant and entertainment zone that’s been a cornerstone of the historic waterfront destination for a decade, is closing this summer.

A Plank employee told KRON4.com that the popular establishment will close permanently on Aug. 2. Plank first opened in 2014 and offered Oaklanders a unique blend of food, drinks and activities with bowling, bocce, an interactive arcade, and a waterfront beer garden, all in one location.
The business is citing a significant drop in business combined with rising costs as reasons behind the closure.
“It is with great sadness that we announce the upcoming permanent closing of Plank on Sunday, August 2, 2026,” a statement posted to the Plank website Friday read. “Unfortunately, due to persistent and significant drops in sales during the past two years combined with steadily rising costs, the business is no longer viable, and we are forced to shut our doors.”…
