1st ever BART Prom brings 80s back to life

(KRON)– Boutonnieres, electric blue punch, live music, taffeta, and teased hair could be found all around in the Rockridge BART parking lot on Saturday night.

And yes, you heard that right. The 80s came back to life Saturday night at BART Prom, a first-of-its-kind event themed “Enchantment Under the C Line,” merging the nostalgia of the 80s and “under the sea” in the Rockridge BART station parking lot.

The all-ages event featured food trucks, live music, a dance floor, a corsage or boutonniere, photo stations and punch. All were complimentary with the purchase of a $15 ticket.

The event was all ages, something Alicia Trost, BART Chief Communications Officer, said was intentional to create an inclusive environment for those who might want a “do-over” of their high school prom…
