Pacifica’s beloved Chit Chat Café to be demolished as pier crumbles

PACIFICA, Calif. (KRON) — Pacifica’s beloved Chit Chat Café is set to be demolished as the Pacifica Municipal Pier it’s situated on remains closed due to unsafe conditions. The pier was shut down last Thursday with city officials citing cracking, separation and “displacements of the concrete walkway and structural elements near the Pier abutment.”

With the pier closed indefinitely, PG&E cut off electricity and gas to the café last week.

Since then, cracks have begun to appear down the side of the café. It’s also starting to slope toward the ocean.

The café’s owner Ginger Davis confirmed to KRON4 on Monday that the building is set to be demolished…
