(KRON) — A Millbrae man was arrested in San Carlos Tuesday afternoon after an attempt to rob a bank. The San Mateo County Sheriff’s Office said it was notified at around 12:30 p.m. of a panic alarm being triggered at a bank located on the 700 block of El Camino Real.

Deputies responded within minutes and found a man at the teller counter who law enforcement described as “agitated” along with a female teller who appeared fearful for her safety. Deputies detained the man without incident.
An investigation revealed that the man told the teller he had a gun and demanded $5,000 in cash. No firearm was located, officials said.
The suspect, 45-year-old Gilberto M. Mirandaorozco of Millbrae, was arrested and booked into the Maguire Correctional Facility for attempted robbery. The sheriff’s office said the case will be forwarded to the FBI for consideration of federal charges…
