Pizza and pets top priorities as one of S.F.’s largest street fairs kicks off

Pizza and pets were top priorities Saturday as one of San Francisco’s oldest and largest street fairs opened to celebrate the arrival of summer with food, entertainment, art and family fun.

The 70th annual North Beach Festival kicked off with more than 200 vendors offering crafts, jewelry, home decor, and modern and vintage fashion, much of it celebrating the neighborhood’s Italian heritage.

The two-day festival, traditionally held on Father’s Day weekend, includes local gourmet cuisine vendors and food trucks from around the Bay Area, as well as outdoor cocktail gardens serving craft beer and wine…
