Bay Area rock icon sets legacy show for Napa

A Bay Area metal rock legend is returning to the region to celebrate his musical legacy for one night only.

Les Claypool, best known as the lead singer and bassist of Primus, is set to perform music from several of his musical side projects during a special Fourth of July performance in Napa. The show, Claypool Gold, will feature the musician playing a lineup of cuts from his bands Primus, the Claypool Lennon Delirium and Les Claypool’s Fearless Flying Frog Brigade. It is part of Blue Note Napa’s Summer Sessions concert series and is set to take place at the Meritage Resort and Spa on Saturday, July 4.

The Richmond-born musician is regarded as one of the best bassists of all time, and is particularly recognized for his unique bass playing style, which melds tapping, strumming, slapping and popping. Claypool’s forthcoming performance will mark his first local show this year…
