An Oakland man drowned while swimming in Shasta Lake on the Fourth of July, according to the Shasta County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies with the sheriff’s office boating safety unit responded around 12:56 p.m. Saturday to a report of a possible drowning near the shoreline of Old Man Campground, an area near the Gooseneck and Beehive campgrounds.
Investigators found that the man entered the water with several friends and family members to help children using a personal watercraft. As the group attempted to swim across the cove, the man went underwater for unknown reasons and did not resurface…
