Civic Center Subway Crawls After Suspected Track Intruder Spooks Muni

Muni subway riders near Civic Center hit a slow patch yesterday after the San Francisco Municipal Transportation Agency said controllers ordered a safety check following a report of an intruder in the trackway. Inbound and outbound trains were told to creep through the downtown Market Street tunnel while crews inspected the right-of-way, snarling what is usually a quick run under downtown.

According to SFMTA’s alert on X, controllers ordered all inbound and outbound subway trains to run at reduced speed near Civic Center while a safety check was underway. The agency said the slowdown was “due to a report of an intruder in the trackway” and told riders it would share more updates as crews cleared the line.
