Oakland police arrested three people and found six guns and more than a dozen baggies of narcotics this week during an operation that targeted people at high-risk for gun violence.
Police first spotted someone in East Oakland who had an active felony warrant for weapons violations. Officers watched as the person entered a vehicle and tracked the car. Officers stopped the car near Orinda with the assistance of the California Highway Patrol. Two people were inside.
During the stop, police said they saw a gun in plain sight inside the car. They searched the vehicle and found five handguns, a semi-automatic pistol and baggies of drugs that officers said were packaged to be sold. The driver and passenger were both prohibited from possessing guns, officers said. They were arrested on multiple felony charges…
