SAN FRANCISCO, CA — Police in San Francisco say they have closed the decades-old disappearance of Cheryl Lanier, a woman who was last seen in 1973.
Investigators used DNA to identify her remains after a Texas tip pointed them toward an unnamed body.
The Tip
The break came in July, when Harris County authorities alerted San Francisco police to a possible match.
The body of a deceased Jane Doe in Texas was suspected to be Lanier.
