PG&E power shutoffs planned for this week as fire weather rolls up

Residents in Alameda, Contra Costa and Marin counties could lose power for up to 20 hours this week due to elevated fire weather, Pacific Gas & Electric Co. warned Tuesday.

The National Weather Service said in a statement that higher-than-normal temperatures, dry conditions and gusty winds will persist Tuesday afternoon through Thursday. PG&E listed power safety shutoffs for Wednesday and Thursday.

The estimated outage begins in Marin from 2-3 p.m., Contra Costa from 3:30-4 p.m., and Alameda from 1-3 p.m. Power was expected to be restored by 10 a.m. Thursday…
