S.F. considers $2 million award to family of cyclist killed after being doored by city worker

San Francisco supervisors will consider a near $2 million payout to the family of Steven Bassett, a 70-year-old cyclist who died two years ago after being struck by the door of a parked city vehicle as it swung open, city documents show.

The settlement would bring a close to a wrongful death lawsuit filed by Bassett’s sister, which alleged the city and its employees were negligent in their operation of a public utilities truck.
