Thick smoke from the Woodside Fire drove air quality well into the hazardous zone on Thursday evening for a significant swath of Sonoma County.
In Forestville and Sebastopol, air quality readings for fine-particle pollution, a core aspect of smoke, were astonishingly high: According to a Purple Air map of air pollution sensors, readings in that part of the county ranged from the 600s to over 1,000, as of around 8:30 p.m. Hazardous levels are considered over 300.
