For some drivers, avoiding a toll might seem like an easy way to cut everyday commuting costs. But one Solano County driver allegedly took that idea a step further, using a device designed to prevent the vehicle’s license plate from being properly recognized.
Authorities stopped the driver, who was the only person in the vehicle, after discovering the illegal plate-obscuring device on the highway. During the enforcement stop, the driver reportedly admitted it was being used specifically to avoid paying Express Lane and Bay Area bridge tolls.
