(KRON) — A San Francisco man is among 160 suspected fraudsters charged with taking advantage of the U.S. government’s COVID-era loans that were supposed to help small businesses survive the pandemic, officials announced Tuesday.
The Department of Justice’s National Fraud Enforcement Division said its investigators launched a “surge effort” this year to identify business owners who committed fraud while using the Small Business Administration’s Paycheck Protection Program (PPP).
