San Francisco Supervisor Stephen Sherrill on Tuesday launched a process aimed at removing the chair of a law enforcement oversight board for misconduct after a city investigation found he broke the law and misused his position for personal gain.
Sherrill introduced a motion asking the Board of Supervisors to suspend William Palmer, the president of the San Francisco Sheriff’s Department Oversight Board, and to file a 12-count charging document against him alleging he “committed official misconduct that falls below the standard of decency” and “violated city conflict of interest and governmental ethics laws.”
The proposed charges are based on an investigation by San Francisco Inspector General Alex Shepard that concluded Friday, finding that Palmer had violated city law 14 times, including by threatening retaliation against deputies who pulled him over in the Tenderloin in December…
