Forecasters raise specter of powerful ‘Pineapple Express’ dumping heavy rain on California

Brace yourselves, San Francisco Bay Area residents, as the upcoming week promises an active weather pattern with periods of heavy rain and gusty winds.

The National Weather Service’s San Francisco Bay Area office has issued a preliminary forecast indicating that the region may experience significant weather events, urging residents to stay informed through reliable weather sources for timely updates.

According to the latest report from the National Weather Service:

Dry Weather Interrupted:
The currently dry weather is expected to be short-lived as an upper-level ridge shifts eastward, making way for another low-pressure system moving through the North Pacific.

The warm sector associated with this system is projected to bring light showers to the North Bay starting Thursday night through Friday. South of the Golden Gate, conditions may remain dry on Friday.

Weekend Precipitation:
As the weekend approaches, precipitation chances gradually extend southward but may not progress much past the South Bay. Saturday night into Sunday, precipitation chances retreat swiftly northward, with Sunday mostly dry. The workweek kicks off with dry weather on Monday; however, the storm door remains slightly ajar. Another round of rain is anticipated for the middle half of next week.
