WATCH: Woman Who Tried To Cross Flooded Road in Bay Area Ends Up Stranded on Flipped Car for 15 Hours

The woman climbed onto the underside of the car, but she’d lost her cellphone and had no way to call for help

A California woman tried to drive across a flooded roadway, but ended up stuck on her overturned vehicle for 15 hours with no phone as water raged around her.

On Monday evening, a powerful current swept a woman’s car into a swollen creek in Livermore, about 45 miles east of San Francisco, the Alameda County Fire Department announced .

The water flipped the vehicle upside down — while she remained stuck in the driver’s seat.

She managed to climb out onto the underside of the car, but she’d lost her cellphone in the chaos and had no way to call for help.

The woman endured 50-degree temperatures overnight, made worse by the fact that she was still wet from swimming out of her car.

But Tuesday morning, a camper spotted the woman from a nearby campground and called 911.

Dramatic footage obtained by KTVU shows a California Highway Patrol helicopter arriving shortly afterwards and airlifting the woman to safety.
