Man enters SF hospital with gun, building temporarily placed on lockdown

SAN FRANCISCO ( KRON ) — Saint Francis Memorial Hospital was temporarily placed on lockdown Sunday afternoon, the San Francisco Police Department said. Around 3:52 p.m., police received a call about a person with a gun entering the hospital.

The hospital was placed under lockdown for 10 minutes from 3:40 p.m. to 3:50 p.m., Saint Francis Memorial Hospital said. SFPD officers then searched the hospital’s premises to locate the suspect.

The suspect initially got away. However, as of 5 p.m., SFPD detained a person in connection to the investigation. It is unclear if the detained individual was also the same armed person who entered the hospital.

The incident happened at Saint Francis Memorial Hospital on Hyde Street.
