City of San Ramon Approves General Plan 2040, Rezones Several Sites Within Bishop Ranch

The City of San Ramon has approved its General Plan 2040 that rezones several sites within Sunset Development Company’s Bishop Ranch, including the 92-acre Chevron Park campus that will create a pedestrian-oriented, mixed-use neighborhood called Orchards that integrates residential, retail and recreational spaces into the overall Bishop Ranch community.

Last year, Sunset Development Company acquired the office campus with the vision of reimaging the integral site that sits within the core of the nearly 600-acre Bishop Ranch community, one of the largest privately owned, master-planned communities in the country that has been owned and developed by the Mehran family since 1978.

“Bishop Ranch is a place of constant evolution – our job as stewards of this property is to optimize what we own and bring it forward to the next generation. One of our biggest responsibilities is to ensure Bishop Ranch remains relevant and dynamic in the marketplace,” said Alexander Mehran Jr., president and chief executive officer of Sunset Development Company in a statement. “We’re expanding our already walkable downtown destination, with all of life’s daily necessities, into one central location – it’s not just office, it’s not just retail, it’s not just suburban homes. This is an ecosystem that includes all of these uses in one convenient place for a well-rounded, hassle-free lifestyle.”
